Special least concern animals are matters of state environmental significance (MSES) for the purposes of the State Planning Policy 2017 (SPP). Compiled and vetted flora and fauna records were buffered (ESRI, ArcGIS 10.7, geodesic algorithm) by 1km and the output dissolved into single part objects. Buffered records have been restricted to broad natural/semi-natural terrestrial environments (known important shorebird habitat areas are unmodified). Natural/semi-natural environments incorporates areas of remnant and regrowth (as depicted by the Queensland Herbarium’s Regional Ecosystem mapping), freshwater wetlands, and estuarine vegetated communities (as mapped by the Queensland Herbarium’s Wetland mapping). *Shorebird Roost Sites* These sites are considered to represent important habitats for resting and feeding for migratory species recognised under various international agreements and treaties, as well as other special lease concern and threatened shorebird taxa as listed under the NCA. Significant shorebird roosts sites containing SLC taxa were identified and mapped by the Queensland Wader Study Group (QWSG). Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), in collaboration with the QWSG, collate and manage the spatial data. At the time of this release and initial incorporation (2022), shorebird roost site mapping was only available for the Great Sandy Marine Park area and surrounds. However, it is envisaged that additional areas as mapped and completed by the QWSG will be incorporated into QPWS managed statewide layer in future. Linked to each roost site, is bird count quantitative data provided by the Queensland Wader Study Group. The spatial extent of each roost site survey is approximate only, due to the shifting nature of shorebirds, substrate and vegetation cover, accuracy of roost site survey boundaries is given at +/- 50 metres. For the Great Sandy Marine Park area, summary statistics from shorebird observations were undertaken over the period 1995-2019. *Localities surrounding known taxa records* Known records of Special Least Concern fauna were extracted from the Biodiversity Assessment Team’s internal Queensland Fauna Database. Records in the database are vetted in accordance with the Biodiversity Assessment and Mapping Methodology (BAMM) v2.2. Records located greater than 2km distant from the Queensland Bioregion are largely excluded. Compiled and vetted flora and fauna records were then buffered (ESRI, ArcGIS 10.7, geodesic algorithm) by 1km and the output dissolved into single part objects. Fauna records are compiled from: • Specimen backed collections (e.g. QLD Museum) • Camera traps and sound recording devices • Traditional trapping and release • Deceased animal observations • Observer sightings • Scats and tracks observations. Fauna records were extracted and/or obtained from the following sources: • QFD on 16/02/2022 • WildNet on 11/02/2022 • Local Governments including Ipswich City Council dataset (flora and fauna) – 2011 and 30/03/2021; Gold Coast City Council (flora and fauna- 30/03/2021); Moreton Bay Regional Council (koala records – 1/02/2022). Taxonomic nomenclature and status were updated based upon the WildNet taxonomy table (extracted 11/02/2022), with manual updates to accommodate new Species Technical Committee (STC) changes that were applied to the NCA regulations on 08/04/2022. Records were then filtered according to the following rules: • NCA status of CE, E, V • Precision of <=2000m • Year >= 1975 • Highly mobile species (Type H2) were excluded, other than accurate records of known breeding or important roosting/habitat use sites • Duplicate records were removed.
